I wrote this in the spring of 2010. It's about being unemployed and and drawing a line. It's also a good excuse to write a 'country romp'. Enjoy!
lyrics
I’m livin’ in the back of my Hummer.
I’m livin’ in the back of my Hummer.
Times are tough, they cut my pay.
The banker took my house away.
I’m living in the back of my Hummer
What do I do with all my suits and ties?
What do I do with all my suits and ties?
I got laid off, don’t need ‘em no more.
I’ll give ‘em to the Goodwill store.
That’s what I’ll do with all my suits and ties.
I can’t seem to find another job.
I can’t seem to find another job.
I’m 42 and I’m frustrated.
It seems that I’ve become outdated.
I just can’t seem to find another job.
So what to do when the unemployment’s gone?
So what to do when the unemployment’s gone?
I’ll sell my Hummer and buy a tent.
It ain’t much, but it’s cheap rent.
That’s what I’ll do when the unemployment’s gone.
When they finally come for my guitar,
Oh, when they finally come for my guitar-
Looks like it’s time to make a stand
They’ll have to pry from my cold, dead hands
They’ll have a rough time when they come for my guitar.
They’ll have a fight on their hands when they come for my guitar.
